Lecturer: Design and Technology (Teaching Academic Level A)

• Based in UniSA Education Futures at the Mawson Lakes campus
• Full-time, continuing position
• Commencement Salary: $96,929 per annum (plus 17% superannuation)

About the Role 

This Teaching Academic position is primarily focussed on the preparation and delivery of teaching and associated administrative duties within the Academic Unit’s undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs. Level A Academic Staff work with guidance and direction from other academic staff and undertake duties with increasing autonomy as the staff member gains skills and experience. The successful candidate utilises contemporary professional/discipline-related knowledge in their teaching practice, and carries out activities to develop scholarly expertise.

The College is responsible for the university’s pre-degree and pathway programs for Australian students, and implements the University’s Participation Strategy, aimed at increasing the number of students from a low socio-economic background enrolled in the University.

Core Responsibilities 

• Under direction, design and implement learning activities including lectures, tutorials, assessment and provide timely feedback to students
• Adopt appropriate teaching approaches (including face-to-face, online and blended learning) to promote student learning
• Contribute to the design and development of engaging course curricula and materials, and ensure that teaching is informed by relevant research and contemporary practices in the field
• Undertake teaching as part of the teaching team, including co-ordinating moderation of assessment exercises
• Act as a student advisor by providing academic counselling, mentoring and advice to students
• Engage in scholarship of teaching and learning 

• Post-graduate teaching qualification or relevant industry/discipline experience or a related discipline
• Demonstrated ability to undertake teaching duties including the design and preparation of innovative teaching activities and resources 
• High level written, oral and digital communication skills including demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with team members, external parties including community groups, design organisations and industry colleagues and students
• Demonstrated competence in using the necessary digital techniques required for effective curriculum delivery
• Understanding and experience in using a range of contemporary design and technology teaching methodologies
• Experience in safe working practices with tools and technologies to design and create products with a range of materials
