Curtin’s School of Allied Health offers professionally recognised courses in Exercise and Sport Science, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Social Work, and Speech Pathology. We also operate specialist clinics at Curtin Perth, Challis Community Primary School, and Curtin Clinics Cockburn.
The role provides opportunities to contribute to the preparation of students prior to clinical placements and supports students including external fieldwork partners throughout the physiotherapy clinical program.
The incumbent will work collaboratively with relevant academic course/program coordinators to support and facilitate fieldwork opportunities. This will include developing and maintaining relationships with external professional, community and/or industry practitioners. You will act as an interface between these parties and the students to ensure the end-to-end administration of the physiotherapy clinical placement program runs efficiently. You will also be expected to contribute to learning and teaching activities as well lead/coordinate the work of other staff members.

In this role you will:

  • Deliver and contribute to high quality and innovative teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate students across a range of modes and levels with a focus on clinical education/fieldwork
  • Coordinate and support student learning experiences in Curtin and community based clinical/fieldwork placements
  • Significantly contribute to external activities relevant to the discipline/profession and community engagement including assisting with provision of professional development to clinical supervisors/educators
  • Liaise with clinical placement providers in a range of healthcare and community settings including the establishment and development of new clinical placement opportunities and/or models, including inter-professional and non-metropolitan
  • Undertake Unit coordination of fieldwork units, including the use of a range of technology applications including Blackboard, Collaborate, Teams, Excel for spreadsheets.

As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.

Essential Criteria: 

  • Registration as a Physiotherapist with AHPRA
  • Demonstrated ability to build, maintain and manage relationships with a wide range of professional/industry stakeholders
  • Significant clinical experience
  • Highly developed organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, manage and meet the needs of a large number of stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an inter-professional team environment as well as autonomously with limited direction
  • Knowledge of a range of healthcare and community settings and systems within Australia (e.g. hospitals, disability and aged care sectors)
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and implement innovative teaching methods of instruction for students and supervisors in skills, knowledge and behaviours of relevance to Physiotherapy.
Desirable Criteria: 
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Experience in quality assurance/improvement.
  • Experience in innovative models of clinical education
  • Evidence of professional development in clinical education
  • Experience in clinical education and/or clinical supervision is highly desirable
