Curtin’s School of Nursing is the longest established school of nursing in the Australian university sector. From the time it opened 47 years ago, the school has been a key part of the University’s drive to be a leader in health sciences education and research. The school delivers a range of undergraduate courses in nursing, oral health therapy and paramedicine; and specialist postgraduate courses in areas ranging from diabetes and critical care, to child health and midwifery.  

In this role you will:

  • Deliver high quality teaching to undergraduate students within the Nursing courses.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing reflective improvement in teaching.
  • Conduct tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions, as appropriate, which stimulate and foster student learning.
  • Mark and assess student work.
  • Contribute to curriculum innovation and content design.
  • Undertake nationally competitive and high quality research in discipline/field.
  • Develop a coherent programme of research (to be agreed through PCP process).
  • Participate in and act as co or chief investigator in applications for competitive funding.
  • Disseminate research findings through seminars, workshops and conferences
  • Publish/exhibit in high quality refereed journals/outlets in manner consistent with disciplinary practice.

To apply for this role, the candidate should have demonstrated expertise and recent experience/clinical practice within clinical specialty/discipline of Mental Health Nursing.

As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.

  • A doctoral qualification, or a Masters degree and/or substantial progress towards the completion of a Masters degree (or equivalent accreditation) and professional standing for the Lecturer role.
  • Registered with AHPRA (or the equivalent Australian health professional regulatory authority).
  • Demonstrated high level teaching skill and a demonstrated reflective approach to teaching delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience/clinical practice within a clinical specialty/discipline
  • An understanding of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice relevant to the discipline and experience of scholarship in teaching.
  • A record of research outputs in high quality refereed academic journals/outlets consistent with the discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree research students.
  • Experience in the field of mental health.
