This is a full-time, continuing position available from September 2022. In an effort to address the under-representation of women in the disciplines of Civil and Mechanical Engineering at Curtin, we are strongly encouraging women to apply and the closing date for applications has been extended until 12 September 2022.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Lecturer to play a significant role at a vibrant institution and be part of a dynamic team with a passion for teaching, research, and community engagement, contributing to the overall output of excellence in Teaching and Research in the School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering.

The successful candidate will be a passionate educator who will supervise honours project students as well as higher degree research students.   

They will have the ability to develop and deliver curriculum in the rapidly growing undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degrees and undertake research related to Mechanical and Industrial and Systems Engineering.  An ability to connect emerging technologies with mechanical engineering will be highly regarded. The position will involve engaging with students, collaborators, industry partners and developing funding proposals.

The position is located on the Bentley Campus of Curtin University but may involve collaborations with Curtin campuses in Malaysia and Dubai or education partners in Sri Lanka.

Candidates must be Permanent Residents or Citizens of Australia to be considered for this role.

Selection Criteria:
Essential Requirements:
  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering or field directly related to Mechanical Engineering
  • Evidence of a capability or potential to develop and deliver high-quality teaching in Mechanical Engineering or related fields
  • Evidence of a capability or potential to deliver high quality research in Mechanical Engineering related fields
  • High level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity
Desirable Requirements:
  • Capacity to deliver teaching and research related to the use and application of emerging technologies (e.g., data engineering, automation, predictive analytics) in engineering domains
  • Excellent software development skills and experience with delivery of computing services
  • Track record of interdisciplinary research collaboration
  • Track record of engagement with industry, community, or government in relation to research and/or teaching
  • Evidence of engagement at the professional or disciplinary level
