Overview
The School of Arts and Humanities are seeking to appoint a lecturer within our renowned criminology course. ECU’s Criminology and Justice course provides a comprehensive understanding of the nature of criminology and justice and the principal disciplines of law, political science, psychology and sociology, which inform criminological and justice-related issues. Our academics within this discipline adopt a contemporary, international approach to criminology and justice education in developing well-educated practitioners.

This position will be offered as either a Teaching and Research Scholar or Teaching Focused Scholar academic role depending on the successful candidate. The role offers an excellent opportunity to pursue teaching and research innovations related to criminology and social justice practice, with strong industry connections.

The successful applicants will be expected to have:

1. A PhD in a relevant discipline area, or significant progress towards one;
2. Significant professional experience and expertise in the area of Criminology or Justice;
3. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level and demonstrated ability to teach, coordinate, and develop effective teaching materials (achievement in course design would be desirable);
4. Demonstrated ability to establish networks within the discipline and conduct applied research; and
5. Demonstrated evidence of quality publications, creative works and/or non-traditional research outputs ideally in the areas of penology and offender management, law, or social justice (for Teaching and Research Scholar academic role. For the Teaching-focused role, demonstrated research related to pedagogy is required.

These full time, ongoing positions attract remuneration of $72,650 - $97,389 (ALEVA) or $102,253 - $120,814 (ALEVB) p.a. plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
