Location: Ritsumeikan Osaka Ibaraki Campus (OIC), Japan 

This position is permanently located in Ritsumeikan Osaka Ibaraki Campus (OIC), Japan.  It is part of the job requirement that the successful incumbent of this position is to be located in Japan for the duration of employment, and that they possess rights to live and work in both Japan and Australia.

The ANU Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs (Bell School) is a world-leading centre for research, education and policy analysis in the international, political, societal, diplomatic and strategic affairs of Asia and the Pacific. The School comprises a number of vibrant, interdisciplinary, intellectual communities; the Department of International Relations, the Strategic and Defence Studies Centre, the Department of Political and Social Change and the Department of Pacific Affairs.

Located in the Coral Bell School of Asia Pacific Affairs, the Bachelor of Asia Pacific Affairs (BAPA) is an innovative undergraduate dual-degree program between ANU and Ritsumeikan University in Japan. Students study at both ANU and Ritsumeikan’s Osaka Ibaraki Campus (OIC) and are taught by academic staff from both institutions in English. On successful completion, students receive separate degrees from both institutions. The program was launched in 2019, and has a cohort of students primarily from Australia, Japan, and the Asia Pacific region.

The lecturer position will teach ANU courses as part of the delivery of the BAPA program at OIC. The role is based in Japan at Ritsumeikan University, working alongside the BAPA Program Convenor and Program Administrator. We are looking to appoint a promising scholar with teaching and research expertise in a field of study represented in the Bell School, broadly understood:

  • International Relations
  • Strategic and Security Studies
  • Political Science
  • Asia and the Pacific
