The CLT’s Teaching Quality team supports the development of excellence in teaching at ECU by working collaboratively with individuals, course teaching teams and whole Schools.

The School of Engineering at Edith Cowan University (ECU) was established in 1992. It is currently one of the fastest growing engineering schools in the nation with a strong track record of success in developing and delivering quality undergraduate and postgraduate engineering programs that have strong alignment with industry and promote community and environmental sustainability. It offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in a wide range of Engineering discipline areas as well as a professional courses in Aviation. ECU has been ranked in the Top 151-175 in the 2021 Times Higher Education World University Rankings for engineering and technology. The CLT and School of Engineering are seeking a Learning Designer to join the team to support the design of engaging, evidence-informed online learning in the field of Aviation.

The Role
We are seeking a Learning Designer who is enthusiastic about online learning design and committed to supporting academic staff in Engineering to enhance the student learning experience and ensure student success. The successful candidate will demonstrate extensive knowledge and experience in applying effective learning design principles and strategies for consistent quality using digital technologies. This role will work collaboratively with a team of Senior Learning Designers and Learning Technology Support Officers to ensure quality online learning experiences are designed and implemented in the Aviation discipline, in the School of Engineering.

In addition, successful candidates will need to demonstrate considerable initiative, discretion and independence while interacting with professional and academic staff. The ability to learn quickly, be flexible, and develop positive working relationships are also key to success in this position.

Selection Criteria
Suitable candidates will meet the following selection criteria:

  • Undergraduate degree or higher qualification in Education or related area and/or related relevant experience
  • Willingness and commitment to learn and support staff to use new approaches and various technologies to enhance the student experience, experience developing high quality tools, templates, and resources to support good pedagogical practice and translate these into actionable academic outcomes
  • Ability to apply learning design principles and learning theories to support learner-centred active and engaged learning in unit design with a strong focus on transformative and flexible learning experiences, digital assessment tools and improved learning outcomes
  • Ability to analyse staff requirements, map those requirements to existing tools and services, and to deliver well-designed and effective solutions to those academic staff

    • Experience teaching in a higher education setting
    • Qualification in Aviation or related field

    Benefits & Remuneration
    This full time, fixed term position attracts remuneration of $90,220 to $101,090 (HEW 7) per annum plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
