Your role

The position is a senior member of the Library’s Liaison Librarians, led by the Deputy Senior Librarian for Teaching and Research Services. The position reports to the Deputy Senior Librarian. This position also takes an active and collaborative role in Library working groups, committees, projects and initiatives which may involve liaison with staff in other University Centers. The position will liaise regularly with staff from the Centers and other University areas in support of high quality, relevant academic programs.

Key accountabilities

  • Develop, coordinate, monitor and evaluate the Library’s Information and Digital Literacy programs for students and staff based upon the monitoring and evaluation of students and staff's capabilities, ensuring quality delivery

  • Develop engaging and authentic interactive online educational learning experiences including online tutorials, SharePoint sites, videos, etc. that develop digital literacy and digital scholarship in collaboration with all Schools and departments.

  • Lead the Liaison librarian team to execute the directions set by senior library managers to achieve library strategic plans and goals.

  • Collaborate with all Course Coordinators and teaching staff to develop course content, supporting digital alternatives for course materials added into courses in Canvas, while ensuring the resources adhere to strict academic integrity and copyright requirements.

  • Involved in the design and delivery of training workshops for academic and teaching staff via periodic development programs including new academic inductions, non-teaching weeks and staff-development programs.

  • Collaborate effectively with Liaison Librarians to identify the information and learning material needs to develop technological solutions that enhance online and campus teaching and learning.

  • Build a thorough professional development program to enhance capabilities of Liaison Librarians to deliver innovative, interactive and engaging learning objectives.

  • Support the entire library team, providing expert reference and research support, at physical and virtual service points, during the evenings, weekends and public holidays as required.

  • Oversee, motivate, and mentor the Liaison Librarians, providing support for team members and report team progress to senior management.

  • Work closely with all library users on the acquisition of new materials for collection development, applying professional standards to maintain a high-quality library collection composed of a variety of resources.

  • Act in the role of Deputy Senior Librarian for Teaching and Research Services as directed.

  • Participating and presenting to local and regional professional library associations and creating opportunities for collaboration within the Vietnamese professional library community.

  • Any other duties as directed, commensurate with the scope and classification of this position.


Key selection criteria

  • Qualifications and Pre-requisites

    • Mandatory: Relevant degree and/or postgraduate qualification and relevant experience and training sufficient to undertake the duties required.

    • Preferred: Experience in developing and delivering professional development activities to support programs for instructional excellence.
       

  • Employment/Professional Experience

    • Mandatory: Demonstrated self-motivation, initiative, and critical thinking and make independent decisions. Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative work teams, locally and internationally and also to work independently.

    • Preferred: Proven ability to manage staff, including recruitment, training, and performance appraisal. Demonstrated excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
       

  • Competencies - skills, knowledge, abilities

    • Essential: Demonstrated knowledge of trends and best practice in libraries to support students and staff in higher education.

English Proficiency

  • The minimum requirement is IELTS with a score of at least 6.0 or 160 in Linguaskills.
