Overview
The Centre for Learning and Teaching delivers high quality teaching and learning support programs, servicing both ECU students and academic staff.

The Learning Adviser is part of the Learning Support function of the Centre, working to support the development and implementation of specific learning programs for students, including academic skills, English language proficiency, science, and numeracy skills. This position will also need to work in close collaboration with staff at the ECU South West campus and hub locations to improve the success, retention, and experience of ECU regional and remote students. 

The Role
The Learning Adviser based at the new ECU Busselton Learning Centre provides direct academic skills support to ECU students in face-to-face and online environments. Prioritising the needs of ECU regional students, the role provides a student-focused, efficient service, aimed at improving student retention and progression. 

In addition to providing this support, the role also plays a key role in connecting regional students to other University support services and collaborating with staff in the Regional Futures portfolio. The role is an important team member in contributing to the day-to-day operations of the Learning Centre, including responding to student queries and engaging with the local community where appropriate.

ECU has a commitment to improving the communication skills of all students. The broad focus of this position and the Learning Support team is to assist students undertaking undergraduate and postgraduate studies in a range of disciplines to develop their academic communication skills. The Learning Adviser is required to have an ability to use a range of delivery modes and technologies, both face-to-face and online, to enhance these skills for coursework students.

Please note that there is an expectation that the Learning Adviser will work across ECU South West’s Bunbury campus and South West hub locations as required.

Selection Criteria
The successful applicants will possess the following capabilities:

  • A graduate qualification or progression towards a higher degree in Education and subsequent relevant teaching experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Demonstrated experience in supporting regional students, including an understanding of the access barriers these students often face
  • Demonstrated ability to support student skills development in higher education settings, including academic communication, numeracy, and study skills, in individual and group contexts
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop student resources that support online and technology enhanced learning
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience supporting people of diverse cultural backgrounds
  • A highly collaborative approach with a record of having achieved significant goals through teamwork.

Benefits & Remuneration
These fixed term part-time positions attracts a remuneration of $93,378 to $104,628 pa (pro-rata) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
