Under broad direction, the Organisational Change Specialist is responsible for the review and continuous improvement of the change management framework and associated resources, facilitating and embedding effective change management practice across the University, and leading organisational change projects.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Organisational Development and Diversity, the role has a focus on ensuring the people elements of change are prioritised in the delivery of projects and initiatives and is a key advisor to the People and Culture leadership team on strategic change management.
The Organisational Change Specialist will design, develop and deliver change management services and resources to the University, and contribute to organisational wide projects with a people change focus, including but not limited to: Organisational redesign, delivery of new programs or establishment of new functions.
The role is also responsible for the sourcing and deployment of change management resources where required, to prioritised and funded projects. From time to time there may be dotted line reporting arrangements to key project leads delivering material change.

Key Position Responsibilities

  • Designing, developing and delivering change management services and activities to support project or operational outcomes, with a focus on the people elements of change.

  • Designing, developing and managing the continuous improvement of the University change management strategy and framework to support the delivery of consistent, sustainable and reliable experience for people experiencing change.

  • Contributing to the successful implementation of organisational wide projects and initiatives with a people change focus.

  • Develop change management plans including communication, training and business readiness.

  • Providing advice and support to customers and stakeholders to ensure that project and activity planning and design efforts align to effective change management principles.

  • In collaboration with relevant stakeholders, enhance and mature the roadmap for Change Management practice, ensuring it is aligned to the strategic objectives and relevant governance principles of Flinders.

  • Engage and deploy change management resources across both technology and business-related change impacting people.

  • Periodically participating in knowledge building activities and events to be aware of latest/best practices related to the role and to keep skills and knowledge up to date.

  • Any other responsibilities in line with the level of the role as assigned by the Supervisor and/or the University

Key Position Capabilities

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification in Information Technology or relevant technical area, and / or equivalent relevant experience in an IT environment.

  • Extensive experience in leading change across entire project lifecycles.

  • Experience utilising structured organisational change methodologies and tools (eg. Prosci).

  • Proven experience in developing change management strategies and plans.

  • Ability to interpret and distil complex data, prepare written reports and propose business focused solutions

  • High level strategic thinking, planning and analytical skills and actively contributes to achieve outcomes and meet the University’s strategic goals.

  • High level interpersonal and relationship management skills.

  • Broad experience in building and managing customer relationships in a strategic and long-term context.

  • Broad experience in agile ways of working including exposure to scaled agile methodologies and/or collaborating and delivering through a matrix structure.

  • High level self-improvement and growth mindset/approach to the role and fosters it amongst the wider team.

  • High level interpersonal influence and demonstrated ability to negotiate and communicate effectively with staff and customers across a diverse organisation particularly during the design, management and implementation of customer solutions.

  • Higher education experience advantageous
