Overview

The School of Medical and Health Sciences at Edith Cowan University (ECU) offers undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees.  Academics in the School are involved in research and teaching relating to a wide range of health disciplines.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated laboratory assistant/technician for appointment to our technical support team. The role is responsible for the delivery of laboratory advice and support services in both research and teaching laboratories and contributes to the provision of a safe laboratory environment for students and staff in the Medical Sciences programs within the School.

Our ideal candidates will have:

1. Demonstrable technical skills and experience in preparing for laboratory sessions and maintaining equipment particularly associated with anatomy, physiology, and genetic teaching and /or experience providing technical support in a medical research environment including PC2 Laboratories.

2. Strong Occupational Safety and Health awareness with a demonstrated ability in the safe handling of hazardous substances and biological waste.

3. Excellent customer service and communication skills

4. Tertiary qualifications in Laboratory Techniques desirable but not necessary, the equivalent level of expertise gained from a combination of relevant qualifications and experience would be considered favourably.

Candidates will undergo a medical assessment with a medical practitioner to ensure that they are able to safely undertake all the tasks inherent in the role.

Benefits & Remuneration

This full time, permanent position attracts remuneration of $69,152 - $73,652 pa (paid in proportion to hours worked) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
