About the opportunity

This exciting opportunity has recently become available to support Sydney Microscopy & Microanalysis team and Sydney University as a Research Assistant.

The Research Assistant will provide technical support in the laboratory.   The role will require you to complete routine tasks autonomously. Any non-routine, complex matters are to be referred to the supervisor and/or relevant staff member in the department.  Please note training will be provided.
 


Your key responsibilities will be:

  • provides technical support in the specimen preparation laboratories (material and biological) of SMM.  

  • preparing the laboratory for experiments

  • carrying out general maintenance and cleaning of laboratory equipment routine checks

  • purchasing of required laboratory consumables

  • performing required laboratory tests

You have

  • an ability to work effectively in a team environment

  • an ability to work under pressure

  • excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

  • high level of accuracy and attention to detail

  • proven ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative to achieve objectives

  • strong organisational skills and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines
