About the Role
This position is a part time (0.7 FTE), fixed term appointment until February 2023.

The Korea Foundation Research Fellow (hereafter KF Fellow) will assist in the policy-oriented research project on Korea-Australia Middle Power Collaboration, funded by the Korea Foundation under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in the Republic of Korea. Hosted by the Faculty of Arts’ Asia Institute, the KF Fellow will help lead the policy project in close consultation with the Director of the Korean Studies Research Hub and work closely with the other members of the Hub. The main responsibilities of the KF Fellow are to write and publish a policy report and op-eds, organise policy roundtables and public lectures, and actively engage in media and social media platforms. The Fellow will offer mentorship for early career researchers and co-authorship opportunities for academic publications.

In a typical week at work, you may:

  • Develop, author and edit a policy report on Korea-Australia relations, and present findings at appropriate Australian and international forums
  • Design, organise and chair policy roundtables with government officials, industry experts and civil society members
  • Organise public lectures for the Korean Studies Distinguished Speakers Series

About You
Your strong interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills will allow you to work seamlessly as part of a collaborative research team, working effectively with both academic and administrative staff to achieve high quality outcomes. In addition, you will have solid stakeholder management skills, and be familiar with the Korean Studies Research Hub (KRSH) and it's research themes and objectives.
Ideally you will have experience writing policy papers and organising policy roundtables, and be bilingual in English and Korean.

Ideally, you will further have:

  • A PhD in international relations or other relevant social sciences
  • Strong track record of analytical and writings in policy areas
