Curtin University is building one of the most exciting digital transformations across Australia today. We are revolutionising the way Curtin work with data and are building out a new Data and Analytics platform.

We are looking for top talent who are excited about the power of digital and want to be part of an exciting transformation in a cross functional team.

In your role as Junior Developer on the data platform, you will be responsible for carrying out development and maintenance, as well as integration work, and assisting with Level 3 support of the University’s applications.

You will work in a collaborative environment to design, code, test, and document solutions and enhancements based on an understanding of business needs and problems and using recognised industry standards and methodologies.

You will also provide operational support and maintenance of in-house developed or customised applications and systems.


Essential Experience

:


  • A relevant degree with relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training
  • Software developer with 0-3 years of hands-on experience
  • Practical experience as a developer and experience in modern and relevant programming languages
  • Knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms concepts
  • Understanding of software Version Control (e.g Git) and CICD concepts
  • Knowledge of good software development practices & principles
  • Willingness to learn and use different technologies
  • Takes ownership and pride in own work
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to continually keep abreast of general developments, innovations and research in ICT, with an emphasis on technologies for web-delivered content and applications
  • Demonstrated well-developed verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills with a personal commitment to achieving the highest levels of client focus, along with proven ability to interact professionally with clients
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, determine own work priorities and work effectively as part of a team

  • Integration development
  • Developing in AWS
    • Lambda, Step Functions, Logging, CloudWatch, SQS, SNS, S3, Kinesis, SNS, Firehose, API Gateway, AppSync and others
  • DevOps and Continuous Integration in AWS
    • Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation and/or CDK)
  • Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipelines
  • Integration patterns & coding standards
  • JIRA/Confluence
  • Agile development methodologies
  • Opportunity for AWS certification - AWS Cloud Practitioner, AWS Developer associate and other relevant certifications
  • Design documentation & process design
  • TDD, testing principles and writing automated tests
    • Including Unit/Integration Testing Frameworks
  • Event Driven Architecture and APIs
  • SQL
  • MuleSoft
  • Docker

As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered.
