About the Role

As the IT and Security Officer for the Quality Use of Medicines and Pharmacy Research Centre’s (QUMPRC) you will manage the security and IT environment requirements of the secure data facility in compliance with the Attorney-General’s Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF). In this role, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of physical and logical environments to ensure the secure transfer, storage and analysis of data.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage the physical and IT security mechanisms and assess the impact of configuration changes on the security of IT components
  • Ensure compliance to the policies and procedures of the Attorney-General’s Department Protective Security Framework (PSF)
  • Develop and maintain procedures for the use of designated information technologies, services and applications by designated staff
  • Manage the IT network, servers and equipment within a secure IT environment
  • Train new and existing users in the security requirements and secure use of the technology

Essential Skills and Experience
  • A tertiary qualification in information management or demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills and experience, and previous experience in an IT security position
  • Knowledge of the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF), Information Security Manual and Security Equipment Evaluated Product List
  • Highly developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills to enable effective communication and interaction with people at all levels both internal and external to the University
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with privacy, security and IT requirements as they relate to the management of identified data in a research environment
  • Demonstrated experience in the establishment and support of systems running a Windows desktop operating environment and a wide range of applications
