About the Role 

The key focus of the Information Technologist: Integrations Developer is to administer, design, develop and maintain the integrity, security and performance of the university’s application environment using Oracle databases and a variety of technologies and tools, across in-house and vendor supported applications, both on-premise and in the cloud.

Information Strategy and Technology Services (ISTS), is responsible for the strategic and operational provision of UniSA’s considerable IT infrastructure and services with approximately 180 staff working in a number of key areas.

ISTS contributes to the University’s strategic goals and objectives by providing:

  • University wide IT support for staff and students;
  • technical support, development and management of
    • communication services such as fixed and wireless data networks, telephone systems, voicemail, and high speed access to the internet;
    • collaboration facilities such as email, calendaring, video and audio conferencing, instant messaging and document sharing;
    • over 2,700 on campus computers for students;
    • teaching technology in general purpose teaching spaces; and
    • central infrastructure (servers, data storage and data centres)
  • technical support, development and management of information systems which support online teaching and learning, research management and research education, student experience, administration, data integration and business intelligence, the staff and student portals, and the corporate web;
  • identification and management of ICT based risks and disaster recovery planning;
  • technical project management services for major, University wide ITC projects;
  • management of University wide hardware and software purchasing arrangements; and
  • development, maintenance and communication of policies, procedures and guidelines for the use of information technology within the university.

Core Responsibilities 
  • The Information Technologist: Developer is involved in all stages of the software development lifecycle which includes working with key business stakeholders to gather and define user requirements, prototyping solutions, formulating designs, developing and reviewing code, creating user acceptance plans and be involved in all stages of testing as well as implementing and supporting systems
  • Perform complex system maintenance and administration functions, including the application of security policies, the installation of applications, tools/utilities and vendor software on servers, perform software and infrastructure upgrades, and problem investigation and resolution
  • Develop and support integration functions between existing systems in a complex operating environment
  • Actively participate in the development of standards and promote their implementation across the unit
  • Adhere to and promote policies, procedures and guidelines determined by Information Strategy and Technology Services, including quality procedures
 
Essential Skills and Experience 
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (normally a degree) or equivalent professional information technology experience in a large organisation comparable with the University
  • Significant experience in the design, development and support of Oracle databases to support applications and integrations between systems that are based on a variety of technologies, across in-house and package applications, both on-premise and in the cloud
  • Significant experience supporting, maintaining and upgrading third party software in a complex integrated environment
  • A high level of experience in the implementation of system development methodologies, standards, documentation and quality procedures
  • Significant experience of security issues at applications, database, networking and operating system levels, as well as considerations for integration platforms and cloud technologies
