  • Commencement Salary: $72,341per annum (plus 17% superannuation)


About the Role 

The Information Technologist: Developer contributes to the design, development, implementation and support of IT systems, applications and services. The position improves the performance of the IT function through system development which involves: project planning, feasibility studies, systems analysis, requirements definition, systems design and development, integration and testing, acceptance, implementation and maintenance.  

This position and the specific work therein is required for the Corporate Information Systems Team which is scheduled from January 2023 to December 2023. The work activity associated with this project is expected to be completed within the anticipated timeframe of the contract duration.  The milestones underpinning the engagement are:

  • Ecommerce Phase 2 (January 2023 - August 2023) appian development, integration development and system testing
  • Azure Key Vault Implementation (January - December 2023) review and update corporate applications/Integrations/Batch Jobs
  • Appian Form Security hardening and process improvement (January - December 2023) review current online forms, identify improvements and system development, testing and implementation

Information Strategy and Technology Services (ISTS), which has the primary strategic and operational responsibility for the provision of the UniSA’s considerable IT infrastructure and services has approximately 150 staff in 8 key areas.

Information Strategy and Technology Services contributes to the University’s strategic goals and objectives by providing:

  • University wide IT support for staff and students;
  • technical support, development and management of:
    • communication services such as fixed and wireless data networks, telephone systems, voicemail, and high speed access to the internet;
    • collaboration facilities such as email, calendaring, video and audio conferencing, instant messaging and document sharing;
    • over 2,700 on campus computers for students;
    • teaching technology in general purpose teaching spaces; and
    • central infrastructure (servers, data storage and data centres)
  • technical support, development and management of information systems which support online teaching and learning, research management and research education, student experience, administration, data integration and business intelligence, the staff and student portals, and the corporate web;
  • identification and management of ICT based risks and disaster recovery planning;
  • technical project management services for major, University wide ITC projects;
  • management of University wide hardware and software purchasing arrangements; and
  • development, maintenance and communication of policies, procedures and guidelines for the use of information technology within the university.

ISTS is customer focussed and operated a service management framework based on AS8018 and provides seamless 24 x 7 x 52 service to students and staff.  Information Strategy and Technology Services has a commitment to staff development and provides a professional environment in which to work.  

Core Responsibilities 

  • Under the limited professional guidance of a Senior Information Technologist, contribute to all stages of the software development lifecycle
  • Perform routine system maintenance functions, including the application of security policies, upgrades and problem investigation and resolution
  • Adhere to and promote policies, procedures and guidelines determined by Information Strategy and Technology Services, including quality procedures
  • Document designated technologies, services or applications
  • Liaise with users, technical user groups and team members on system support related issues

Essential Skills and Experience 
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (normally a degree) or equivalent demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience and a commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Demonstrated well developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills to enable effective communication and interaction with people at all levels of an organisation 
  • Demonstrated experience using programming languages, application development tools and databases
  • Demonstrated understanding of web application and database development tools
  • Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to maintain high productivity and meet deadlines with competing demands under limited supervision
