About Information and Digital Services 

Information and Digital Services (IDS) are a pivotal resource of the University, providing information and digital technology services and support to the Flinders University staff and student community. The IDS team apply technical expertise to support university projects and provide core services such as the IDS Service Desk, Audio visual, simulation and event services, Information security and identity access management services and more.  


About the Role 

We have an exciting opportunity within our Information and Digital Services portfolio as the Information Security Officer. This role will provide pivotal support in the implementation of a cyber security awareness program and supporting an information security governance and risk program.

Some of the key responsibilities of the position are:

  • Supporting and assisting with the ongoing application of the IDS Risk Register; identifying and ensuring the management of key risks that may impact on the security of the University’s systems and networks.

  • Undertaking security reviews of new cloud-based systems and platforms intended to be used by the University, in order to ensure the levels of protection appropriate to their use.

  • Supporting the University’s DISP Program, which includes maintaining DISP artifacts and managing the University’s implementation of DISP processes and compliance, under the direction of the University’s DISP Chief Security Officer.

  • Monitoring, responding to, and resolving cybersecurity incidents and trouble tickets assigned to the team for security resolution. 

About You 

As the successful candidate, you have experience in the information security field. You are familiar with security policy controls and how to implement them effectively in ways to both protect and enable University business services. You can work well autonomously as well as working as part of a close-knit team.

Some of the key position capabilities of the role include:

  • Familiarity and experience in information security. 

  • Familiarity with security policy controls and how to implement them effectively in ways to both protect and enable University business services.

  • Demonstrated understanding of cybersecurity risk management practices.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyses issues, solve problems and make decisions by applying sound judgements, including the implications of proposed security solutions on business processes and existing networks and infrastructure.
