RMIT works with a variety of government departments, industry partners and philanthropic donors to provide scholarship opportunities for commencing and continuing students. The majority of coursework* scholarships on offer are access and equity based and aim to identify and address structural and systemic barriers and inequities to provide access to education for underrepresented cohorts. For more information about the RMIT Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Access Framework, click here .

Industry and government scholarship opportunities are designed to support both partner and student educational goals. 

Some examples include:

• Scholarships for underrepresented cohorts; e.g., Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander students, current and former refugees, and women in male-dominated fields.
• Scholarships to promote industry engagement; e.g., scholarship funding and an opportunity to participate in mentoring and/or paid casual or vacation work.
• Scholarships to support Work Integrated Learning (WIL) activities; e.g., scholarships to provide financial support for students undertaking an internship/placement for credit in their program.

The donor provides a specified amount (minimum $7,000 for at least one year) to support a student with their studies. There is also an opportunity for the student to participate in paid work with the company. This may be over the summer/winter vacation period or in a casual capacity on a regular basis throughout the year. The paid work portion of the arrangement must be managed under a separate employment agreement / contract.

The donor provides a specified amount (minimum $7,000 for at least one year) to support a student with their studies. There is also an opportunity for the student to participate in paid work with the company. This may be over the summer/winter vacation period or in a casual capacity on a regular basis throughout the year. The paid work portion of the arrangement must be managed under a separate employment agreement / contract.

The donor provides a specified amount to support students undertaking a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) activity at the company (e.g., an internship / placement). The WIL activity must be for credit as part of the student's program and a separate WIL agreement between the organisation, RMIT and the student must be entered into prior to the activities commencing.

Donations like these are given to support the students' success without the student having to do anything in exchange for the scholarship (i.e., a mandatory internship or work experience). 

Donations to RMIT University are fully tax deductible and the entirety of your donation goes towards supporting the students.

Our general access and equity scholarship fund can be supported by your contribution, or you can establish your own named scholarship to support an area of study or a particular disadvantaged group that you are especially passionate about.
