About the Role

This position is responsible for managing existing relationships with a range of internal stakeholders and external industry collaborators and for developing opportunities with new industry partners that will enhance the Academic Unit’s education and research priorities through industry and community engagement.

The UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance Unit offers a wide range of degrees and conducts research in the fields of physiotherapy, occupational therapy, podiatry, medical radiation sciences, medical sonography, speech pathology, clinical exercise physiology, exercise and nutrition, health sciences, public health, exercise and sport science, and human movement.

Our degrees meet the evolving needs of the health industry, with our graduates actively contributing to the future health workforce in areas such as medical imaging, rehabilitation and wellness, disability, health promotion, chronic disease, pain management, wellbeing and high-performance sport.

Student learning extends beyond the classroom, with access to purpose-built facilities including a wide range of laboratories and simulated hospital and health service environments on campus. Students also get practical, hands-on experience through a range of scholarships and placements with UniSA’s range of community clinics and with industry partners.

UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance has also developed the Invictus Pathway Program (IPP) which is a world first student-delivered program that uses the power of exercise and adaptive sport to improve wellbeing with veteran defence and first responders who have physical, emotional and/or psychological conditions often suffered as a result of traumatic events.

In addition to industry-linked careers, UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance research strengths continue to influence and positively contribute to the health industry and broader community. UniSA Allied Health and Human Performance is home to the Alliance for Research in Exercise, Nutrition and Activity (ARENA), a recognised research centre which investigates the role of exercise, nutrition and other lifestyle activities in improving clinical and health outcome and Innovation, Implementation & Clinical Translation in Health (IIMPACT), a research concentration, which focuses on persistent pain and breathlessness, rural health and stroke recovery.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage and develop opportunities for the Academic Unit to collaborate with industry partners to enhance the Academic Unit’s research and educational directions through industry and community engagement
  • Oversee the Academic Unit’s industry collaborations (including industry-based scholarships)
  • Maintain and develop effective relationships (internally and externally) that promote and sustain the activities of the Academic Unit and its available services, in partnership with the relevant Discipline Lead/Program Director. This includes relationships with current and prospective collaborators on a national and international level.
  • Coordinate and oversee the Academic Unit’s participation across a number of industry relationships including the Invictus Pathways Program.
  • Coordinate activities within the UniSA High Performance and Exercise Physiology Clinic

Essential Skills and Experience
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in a health or health related discipline together with experience working with external organisations (e.g. NGOs and industry)
  • Demonstrated high level project management and organisational skills including the ability to initiate project plans ensuring milestones are met in a complex environment characterised by competing demands and limited timeframes
  • High level problem solving and research/analytical skills including the ability to obtain and interpret information and make recommendations
  • Strong verbal communication skills including the ability to make presentations and relate to a broad cross-section of stakeholders
  • Highly developed written and interpersonal communication and negotiation skills, including demonstrated experience in working effectively with people at all levels, both internal and external to the organisation
