Your new role
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in administering processes, making decisions based on guidance and principles, and providing essential support to research stakeholders. The successful candidate will contribute their expertise to a specific Research Service function within the Ethics Team, with a focus on promoting Indigenous ways of knowing, being and doing in a culturally sensitive manner.
Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Applies specialised expertise, particularly with consideration for Indigenous research practices, within a specific Research Service function.
  • Demonstrates a broad understanding of university policies and external requirements, with a cultural sensitivity lens.
  • Supports the consistent application of standards, Rules of Conduct (RoC), policies, and procedures, taking into account Indigenous perspectives. 
  • Utilises systems and processes to capture, measure, and promote the economic, social, and cultural impact of research and its outputs, with a focus on Indigenous outcomes.
  • Engages and liaise with key university service providers, including Legal Services, Financial Services, People & Culture, CITS, and Properties, ensuring Indigenous perspectives are considered in collaborations.
  • Supports the embedding of a change in service delivery within the Ethics Team, incorporating Indigenous principles.
  • Identifies continuous improvement methods, exploring new ways of working that align with Indigenous perspectives.
Key Requirements:

  • Significant connections to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community/people/culture.
  • Familiarity with the culture and protocols of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander. communities, coupled with insight into the challenges affecting Aboriginal peoples in cross cultural and contemporary settings.
