PRIMARY DETAIL

• Salary Package: Indigenous Early Career Academic Level A. Salary package from $76,173 to $102,570, plus 17% employer’s Superannuation and annual leave loading
• Appointment Type: Full-Time, Fixed-Term (3-year appointment)
• Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus (North Ryde)

THE ROLE

We are seeking an Indigenous Early Career Academic to join the Department of Indigenous Studies, Macquarie University. The successful candidate will be enrolled in a PhD program and be required to complete their PhD within the contracted period of 3 years. The position reports to the Head of Department.

You will be expected to contribute to the Department’s research agenda and also the teaching program. The goal of the position is to support an Indigenous PhD candidate to complete their PhD while also developing the necessary skills and knowledge to be a successful teaching and research academic.

About You

The successful applicant will be an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person enrolled in a PhD program. Experience working in academia is desirable but not essential. The applicant will be someone who is enthusiastic about Indigenous Studies and research and interested in joining a dynamic award-winning team of Indigenous researchers. Ideally you would have passed your confirmation of candidature and be able to provide a reference from your PhD supervisor outlining your progress.

This position has been designated for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only, under the provisions of Section 126 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 (NSW).

The Department of Indigenous Studies within the Faculty of Arts, is an Indigenous led department comprising of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander academics, researchers and professional staff. Reflecting our global focus, we also include Indigenous people from overseas.

The Department of Indigenous Studies produces critical insights into the politics, cultures and social practices of Indigenous peoples.
