  • Fixed-term, full-time position for 1 year (Identified Indigenous role*)

  • Salary Level HEW 6 ($83,455 - $90,325 p.a + 17% Superannuation) and Flexible Working Arrangements 

  • Based at the RMIT City campus at our Ngarara Willim Centre

About the Office of Indigenous Education and Engagement

The Office is responsible for providing the leadership and strategic direction for RMIT’s whole-of-university approach to reconciliation and engagement efforts and activities. 

About the role

The Indigenous Careers Officer will build on our Career and employment services provided to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students during their study and career journey.

The position is responsible for the delivery of careers advice and individual learning plan to students. The position will drive engagement activities with employers and industry partners building on opportunities for students and will continue to connect with our Deadly Alumni cohort.

About You 

 To be successful in this position, you’ll have as a minimum:  

  • Relevant work experience within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community. 

  • Knowledge of the labour market, the VE & Higher Education sector.  

  • Knowledge of issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities regarding education and employment.

  • Ability to effectively liaise with clients and stakeholders in building and maintaining relationships.

  • Highly developed and confident communication skills for consulting with employers and key stakeholders and for counselling students with complex needs.

  • mature outlook with team orientation and ability to work autonomously.

Qualifications/Requirements

A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or an equivalent level of expertise in providing support and services to students

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.

*This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under ‘special measures’ of section 12 of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act 2010.
