The Opportunity

  • Full-time (35 hrs week), fixed term contract to Dec 2022
  • $99,338 - $107,513 (depending on experience) + 17% super + annual leave loading, pro-rata 

The Human Research Officer reports to and supports the Human Research Manager and the Director, Research Ethics & Compliance Support.  You’ll oversee the compliance and support for several research ethics committees, including providing specialist advice to stakeholders on human research ethics matters. You’ll also contribute to ongoing improvements to processes and resources for researchers, including web resources and online and face-to-face training in Human Ethics.

The Research Ethics & Compliance Support (RECS) team coordinates committees and processes for research involving humans, animals, gene technology, radiation safety and research export controls and provides advice on legislative and other requirements in these areas. Committees include the Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) and its Human Research Ethics Advisory Panels (HREAPs). RECS also coordinate other research compliance areas such as export controls, drone use and quarantine.

About the successful applicant

You can demonstrate your experience in human research ethics, as well as knowledge of codes and legislation related to human research and ethics, and critical thinking skills to interpret accordingly.  High level communication and administrative skills, including previous experience working with committees are also essential.
