Your new role

As a Hospital Placement Officer, you will be responsible for the administrative coordination of clinical placements for Curtin medical students at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital and Perth Children’s Hospital. In consultation with the Clinical Deans and the Director, Clinical Education, you will manage all aspects of the student placement and provide ongoing support throughout the placement lifecycle.

You will be based at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital, with your responsibilities including:

  • Allocating students to placement site and organising student orientation/induction.
  • Providing accurate and timely guidance to students and stakeholders regarding policies and procedures.
  • Monitoring compliance and performance as students’ progress through their placement.
  • Coordinating the submission of student assessments including reports, fieldwork competency forms from placement facilities and supervisor.
  • Day to day liaison with clinicians and other staff at Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital and Perth Children’s Hospital.
  • Assisting with practical exams including at the Curtin Perth campus in Bentley.
We are looking for someone with…
  • A degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and training.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills with proven experience in providing quality client service is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience in data entry and the ability to maintain accurate records is required, as well as excellent problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to manage conflicting priorities, work autonomously as well as part of a team, and develop strong working relationships with various stakeholders is paramount to your success in this role.
  • Previous hospital-based experience coordinating fieldwork placements and programs is desirable.
