The Position


The Heavy Ion Accelerators (HIA) National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS) project operates world-leading particle accelerators for a wide variety of scientific and industrial applications. HIA infrastructure is hosted at the Australian National University and the University of Melbourne, and we enable researchers to build a fundamental understanding of nuclear physics, develop new medical treatments and tools to fight cancer, build advanced quantum computing technologies, monitor and protect our environment, and test electronics destined for space. In the advanced manufacturing sector, HIA supports the precise fabrication of quantum centres (the building blocks of quantum computing), microelectronics, advanced materials fabrication and prototyping of quantum sensors. 


As part of the HIA team, you will play a critical role by ensuring HIA facilities remain world-class, and continue to drive innovation, collaboration and cutting-edge research at an international level.


The HIA Administrator is a key role in a friendly, motivated team, providing high level advice and administrative support on a wide range of general administration, financial and human resources matters for NCRIS Heavy Ion Accelerators staff, students, visitors and stakeholders. This position will act as first point of contact for the Node, and will require regular liaison with chief investigators, academics, staff, visitors, students, and variety of stakeholders.

The Person

We are looking for a strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to quickly develop productive, professional relationships with colleagues and clients. Highly developed organisational skills and effective self-management are key. We are looking for someone who can provide accurate policy, procedure advice and coach staff, students, and stakeholders through detailed processes.
