This school brings together Curtin’s core capabilities across electrical engineering, computing, physics, and mathematics.  The school offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses across these areas, and hosts Research Institutes and Centres including the Curtin Institute of Radio Astronomy (which is engaged with the world-leading Square Kilometre Array), the Curtin Institute for Computation, and a number of centres co-funded by industry which provide answers to demand-driven questions.

The Head of School – Electrical Engineering, Computing and Mathematical Sciences   

The Head of School role is an outstanding opportunity for a strategic and operational leader to inspire excellence and continuous improvement in learning, teaching, research, and innovation within the school.

Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Faculty, you will:


  • Collaborate with the PVC and Faculty Deans to establish clear and agreed operational plans, goals, and priorities for the school.
  • Lead the annual operational planning through the establishment of a committee structure and associated leadership roles.
  • Leverage your passion and vision, engage academic and non-academic colleagues, students and industry partners in a long-term strategy focussed on outcomes and excellence, aligned with the faculty and the school.
  • Manage staffing functions, including workforce planning, recruitment, and training and development.
  • Manage school finances, including preparing the school budget and managing expenditure against targets.
  • Foster strong domestic and international connections with relevant government, business, professional bodies, and the wider community.

  • Distinguished and sustained record of academic leadership and governance in a complex stakeholder environment.
  • Internationally renowned expertise in an underpinning discipline that supports the school with a passion to deliver successful outcomes that will enhance the global reputation of the School and the University.
