Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Head of School, Civil and Environmental Engineering to join School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Academic Division.

The Head of School is responsible for leading the school’s delivery of high-quality educational programs and world-class research for QUT’s Civil and Environmental Engineering disciplines. As a member of the Faculty of Engineering Executive Team, this role works with portfolio leaders to support the development and implementation of the faculty’s strategy.

What you need to succeed

  • A doctoral qualification or equivalent in a discipline relevant to civil and environmental engineering.
  • A track record of excellent research and scholarship.
  • Demonstrated success in leadership, including significant outcomes in research ventures and/or educational programs. 
  • Proven experience in budget and resource management and strategic planning.
  • Ability to develop effective teams, exercise conflict management skills and manage complex inter-disciplinary relationships.
  • Sophisticated communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to generate trust, lead and facilitate change.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of the principles of diversity and inclusivity, as well as health and safety.
