Your New Role

The Head of School plays a pivotal role in providing academic leadership, fostering collaboration, and ensuring the overall success of the school in alignment with the University's mission and strategic goals. Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, the Head of School will manage resources, drive innovation, and cultivate a culture of excellence, diversity, and inclusion.

Responsibilities:
Academic Leadership

  • Foster continuous improvement in learning and teaching, research, and innovation.
  • Promote collaboration at the School, Faculty, and University levels.
  • Exemplify and promote the values of the University.
  • Governance and Administration:
  • Establish operational plans aligned with the University's strategic goals.
  • Maintain effective governance arrangements and committee structures.
  • Lead the development and review of unit and course offerings.
People and Culture
  • Manage staffing functions, including recruitment, training, and performance reviews.
  • Build and maintain a positive culture within the school.
  • Ensure compliance with legal obligations and University policies.
  • Finance and Infrastructure:
  • Manage School finances and budget, pursuing revenue opportunities.
  • Oversee the management and maintenance of physical resources and infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies and regulations.
External Engagement
  • Establish and maintain connections with government, business, and the wider community.
  • Strengthen links with industry partners and advisory groups.
  • Key People Interactions:
  • Provost and other members of the Senior Executive Team
  • Internal stakeholders and partners across the University
  • External stakeholders, including accreditation bodies and industry groups.

Essential
  • Qualification: A doctoral qualification or equivalent in a related field.
  • Leadership: Ability to develop a shared vision and inspire commitment.
  • Strategic Focus: Future-focused and able to translate strategic goals into initiatives.

  • Current substantive appointment as Professor (ALE).
