Why your role matters

Unique opportunity to take responsibility for the oversight, co-ordination, and operationalisation of both teaching and research strategy and activities within the assigned discipline across all the Faculty of Medicine and Health clinical campuses. You will be expected to develop and lead academic excellence across all affiliated clinical sites and successfully drive educational and research excellence within the clinical environment in the discipline of Critical Care.

Other key responsibilities Include: 

• Liaise with other Discipline leads (in education and research) to drive academic excellence at all clinical sites.
• Liaise with Campus leads to ensure appropriate supervision and support of academics, as well as workload and performance expectations of all relevant academic staff.
• Liaise with Campus leads at each site to ensure that academics are undertaking appropriate roles and responsibilities to deliver academic excellence in this discipline across all clinical sites.
• Take primary responsibility for the development, upkeep, and implementation of education in the discipline of Critical Care across all clinical sites.
• Work in conjunction with other faculty leadership to ensure ongoing curriculum development and innovation in medical education at all clinical sites.
• Take primary overall responsibility for the development and upkeep of the curriculum in Critical Care at Faculty level.
• Develop, implement, and monitor a framework for education in Critical Care, across all clinical sites. This will include the development of well-defined academic roles (including specific educational responsibilities) across all clinical sites and mapping of academics to these roles.
• Develop, implement, and monitor a research strategy in the discipline of Critical Care undertaken at clinical sites, building research capacity and impact across the faculty,
• Work with clinical academics, within the Disciple of Critical Care, to ensure clear and understood accountability for these academic roles and ensure academic development to optimise academic performance.
  

Who you are:

You will have a PhD and/or medical degree with a substantial background in clinical academic leadership. You must be eligible for medical registration in NSW and possession of appropriate specialist qualifications such as Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Physicians, Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, or be a fellow of the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand. You will have extensive experience with proven excellence in medical education within the discipline of Critical Care, with a commitment to curricular development and implementation as well as experience leading high-quality research. You will also have experience in academic management and stakeholder engagement within government, clinical and academic settings.
