The Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University has started a global search for the next Head of the Curtin School of Nursing. The Faculty, led by Pro Vice-Chancellor Professor Archie Clements, exemplifies Curtin’s mission to provide impactful research and industry-aligned courses connected to the workplaces of tomorrow while also encompassing a rich array of backgrounds and cultures in its students and staff.

The Curtin School of Nursing, founded nearly half a century ago, is Australia’s oldest nursing school and is distinguished by a research intensity that sees it ranked in the global top 100 for Nursing (QS 2021). It is one of four schools in the Faculty of Health Sciences and contributes to its eight research domains. The School is noted for teaching and research programs in such diverse areas as oral health therapy, mental health and paramedicine, with emergency care being a particular specialty through the Prehospital, Resuscitation and Emergency Care Research Unit (PRECRU).

The next Head of the Curtin School of Nursing will be an inspiring, dynamic leader, whether emerging or established, with a fresh vision for translational nursing research and a strong grasp of the needs of students and the health sector. An accomplished, active researcher with a relevant doctoral qualification, the appointee will have the demonstrable management acumen to instil a culture of excellence but complement this with collegiality and empathy. The appointee will also have a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as well as to the health, safety and welfare of staff and students.
