About the Role 
Swinburne’s Domestic Student Recruitment team is looking for suitably qualified scientists, teachers or post-graduates to join our passionate team of PrimeSCI! Science Educators to deliver exciting and powerful programs to ignite curiosity in classrooms across Victorian primary and secondary schools.

You will be trained in the delivery of curriculum-based science lesson content for an audience of predominantly Primary School student, which includes science demonstrations using effective teaching strategies and hands-on activities. You may also be required to deliver science content to Kinder children, Secondary School Students and the General Public.

Science Educators travel to school venues to deliver between two to five one-hour lessons a day, Some schools may require the lesson to be delivered online with technical support.

The position is a Sessional Academic appointment, with work based on school booking demand throughout the year. Up to three shifts per week will be available in the periods of high demand from May to September (Terms 2 & 3) each year. You may also be invited to participate in PrimeSCI! School Holiday Science Workshops during the School Holidays, along with other ad-hoc community events after school hours or on weekends throughout the year.

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Experience in science communication, and/or working with Primary School-aged children.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with a diversity of individuals from both within and outside the organisation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and, to work productively and cooperatively with others in a team environment.

Qualifications

Completion of a science or engineering degree with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
