Why The Role Matters:

The HDR Support Administrator will support current and prospective postgraduate research students in the Research Office. The Research Office is responsible for the implementation of the Faculty’s research strategy. This includes improving and maintaining research performance, leading and contributing to research culture, assisting with reporting and adherence to external policies and regulations, and providing consistent and effective support and guidance to academic staff and Higher Degree Researchers. The HDR Support Administrator provides a high level of service to all current and prospective postgraduate research students, and other stakeholders. This position ensures that HDR student administration is carried out accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner, with a focus on excellent customer service. This role is responsible for ensuring a smooth transition from application, enrolment through to graduation.

Accountabilities:

  • Support all aspects of HDR processes, including coordinating the assessment of local and international HDR applicants and ensure outputs align with the Research Support goals and objectives of the unit and Faculty strategic plans.
  • Work with the Postgraduate Coordinator to support academic staff in managing HDR student progression through candidature including admission, course enrolment, variation to candidature, co-ordination of review panels, thesis submission and HDR completion
  • Work closely with the Graduate Research Manager to identify HDR training needs and develop strategies to meet needs.
  • Ensure a high quality service is provided to HDR students and student queries and problems are managed and resolved efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain a database of students, their supervisors, review panel members and review panel schedule.
  • Ensure positive relationships with stakeholders are developed and maintained.
  • Participate in discussions within the Research Team to identify ways to support the research activities of the Faculty.

Skills and Experience: 

To be considered you will hold Australian Working Rights or Australian Citizenship. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience.
  • Strong commitment to customer service and demonstrated ability to work in a high volume administrative environment with a keen attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal, and written and verbal communication, skills including ability to communicate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Sound time management and organisational skills, ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills and proven ability to participate in business improvement activities.
  • Strong computer skills in particular Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, the use of internet and relevant data bases.
