Fixed term contract opportunity for a Research Fellow – School of Chemical Engineering for a period of 12 months
The School of Chemical Engineering is seeking to appoint a talented researcher, as part of our future fuels team, to play a leading role in the evaluation of commercial and industrial gas appliances, burners and furnaces operating with renewable future fuels.
This is an opportunity to be part of the Future Fuels Cooperative Research Centre that brings together the 60+ member companies of the Australian Pipelines and Gas Association (APGA) and Energy Networks Australia (ENA), State-based regulators and six universities in a search to expedite better ways to transition to a low carbon future through decarbonisation of national gas networks.
Based in the School of Chemical Engineering at The University of Adelaide, you will be expected to develop and deliver an innovative experimental program, working collaboratively with industry and other researchers, aimed at securing Australia’s renewable energy future. This work will provide an opportunity to conduct pilot-scale and full-scale research at industrial sites.
In this role you will design and contribute to experimental research aimed at better understanding changes in the performance of commercial and industrial-scale combustion appliances, burners and furnaces as a consequence of the addition of hydrogen and other low-carbon fuels. Your work will contribute to fast-tracking and de-risking pilot and demonstration projects in Australia and globally to decarbonise the provision of gaseous fuel to commercial and industrial customers.
To be successful you will need:
- A degree, or preferably a PhD, in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
- An ability to undertake experimental research in combustion or a closely related research area
- Well-developed communication skills and an ability to prepare high quality scientific publications and to present engagingly to different audiences
- Commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion, and an ability to contribute to the diversity of the School community.
