Build your research career at the School of Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials in a world-class research centre led by ARC Laureate Fellow, Professor Shizhang Qiao
This research position is for a materials engineer or a scientist to work on renewable energy storage. Work includes synthesizing nanomaterials with well-defined structures, conducting various in-situ and synchrotron-based characterizations, designing and fabricating Zn-based aqueous battery or solid-state batteries, and testing for battery performances.
The successful applicant will be working in CMEC, with a diverse range of scientists and engineers with expertise in materials science and engineering for energy-related applications. The research will be interdisciplinary and have a strong fundamental component with cutting edge materials synthesis and advanced analytical methods.
To be successful you will need:
- A recent PhD in the field of Material Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry; or about to be awarded PhD.
- A strong record of research relative to opportunity is expected in the field of Materials Science or Materials Engineering as evidenced by a nationally recognised publication record.
- Knowledge and expertise in Synthesis of nanostructured materials with well-defined structure.
- Experience in various characterization techniques, including but not limited to high-angle annular dark-field scanning transmission electron microscopy and synchrotron-based spectroscopy.
- Knowledge and expertise in electrochemistry experiments related to different energy storage systems, such as solid-state battery, Na/K-ion batteries, Zn-based or other aqueous batteries and Flexible/wearable energy storage in a device scale.
