Salary Package: (HEW 7) $97,783 - $106,018, plus 17% employer's superannuation.
Appointment Type: Full-time, Ongoing
Location: Macquarie University, Wallumattagal Campus at North Ryde

THE ROLE

The Grant Development Advisor provides tailored advice and guidance to researchers to identify and apply for relevant funding schemes, manages internal EoI processes and internal fundings schemes.

The role will also coordinate the submission of the University’s applications to competitive research grant schemes.

Key Accountabilities

  • Provide expert advice and guidance to researchers on relevant competitive funding schemes (major, short notice and/or non-traditional) including timeframes, budgets, eligibility requirements and clarity of responsibilities, and promote and encourage research participation across the University.

  • Coordinate, compile, refine, and deliver competitive and high-quality grant applications in direct consultation with CIs and Grant Development Managers.

  • Communicate between the University, internal and external applicants and the funding agencies in relation to the grant application process.

  • Coordinate, compile, refine and deliver internal Expressions of Interest and other internal processes, where appropriate, to support the work of the Grant Development team.

  • Organise and administer internal research funding schemes including ensuring continuous process improvement, reporting, internal panel management, and communication of results/outcomes.

  • Coordinate the compliance and eligibility review process for external grant submission, including having oversight of a pool of casuals during Major Grant Round.

  • In conjunction with Director, Grants and Awards, assist the universities management of miscellaneous grants, including US and EU-based research grants.

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and relevant experience or demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills and experience.

  • Knowledge of Australian competitive research funding schemes, including a demonstrated ability to understand and interpret funding guidelines, eligibility criteria, and funding requirements of external agencies.

  • Demonstrated high level of initiative and organisational skills including the ability to work in a diverse and complex environment, to be flexible, to prioritise and to work to deadlines.

  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Extensive administrative experience in a research environment, including working with research systems, collecting, and analysing data, contributing to the drafting of internal reports and administration of internal funding including grant review panels.
