Graduate Research Officer

About the position

In this role you will work in the Graduate Research School Operations team managing the complete candidature lifecycle.  You will work primarily across the application, enrolment, candidature, and scholarship functions of the team.  The role will liaise with other administrative teams in the Graduate Research School and across university whose work intersects with graduate research admissions and candidature, including La Trobe International, Student Services, Information Services and the Research Office.  You will also be required to provide expert advice to academic staff, graduate research candidates, colleagues and other university staff on graduate research procedures and processes.   

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have.

• Completion of a degree without subsequent relevant work experience; or completion of an advanced diploma qualification and at least one year’s subsequent relevant work experience
• Demonstrated ability to gain a conceptual understanding of relevant policies, procedures or systems and interpretation in the application of policy and/or precedent.
• Demonstrated capacity to organise work effectively and efficiently and deliver outputs in a timely manner.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, follow established procedures with limited supervision and contribute positively to an effective team.
• Demonstrated flexibility and capacity to develop and work with new processes and systems.
• Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated customer service focus, solution orientated approach.
• High level proficiency in computer software packages including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and electronic mail.
