The Opportunity

The Monash Institute of Railway Technology (IRT) is currently recruiting for a Graduate Research Industry Partnerships (GRIP) Manager!

The Faculty of Engineering is the host faculty for the Safe, Sustainable, Accessible Rail (S2AR) Graduate Research Industry Partnership, in collaboration with the Monash Institute of Railway Technology. The Monash IRT has a global reputation for research, innovation and leadership in Rail Industry and after 50+ years of existence is embarking on bold new directions in response to rail industry needs. The S2AR GRIP program is one manifestation of this progression.

Reporting to a GRIP Director and Monash IRT Team Leader - Track Infrastructure, you will coordinate innovative training programs on business and technical topics related to rail that enhance skills for the PhD students enrolled in the S2AR GRIP Program. You will also identify opportunities, lead the development of well structured, innovative research and development of new programs, and facilitate new commercial opportunities for technology transfer and commercialization related to railway.

  • Support supervisors and co-directors in ensuring that the University and Industry requirements are met with respect to PhD Projects
  • You’ll be responsible for coordinating innovative training programs on business and technical topics that enhance skills for our enrolled PhD students
  • Collaborate with IRT partners to identify opportunities and lead the development of innovative research and development programs

Your time in this role will be shared between the Graduate Research Industry Program team and the Institute of Railway Technology. 

As the successful candidate you will have:

  • Advanced qualifications and/or exposure to postgraduate education
  • Experience in implementing strategic plans
  • Demonstrated management experience within industry or University research sectors
  • Knowledge of the PhD application process advantageous
  • Experience within the engineering industry will be advantageous, however not a requirement
