  • Opportunity to work closely with academic and professional staff in the Faculty of Science to ensure a high standard of communication and support for our HDR students

  • Base Salary $91k - $98k (HEO6) + 17% superannuation 

About the opportunity 

The Graduate Research Case Officer is responsible for case managing future Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students through enquiries and admissions, whilst ensuring the timely progression of applications for admission and ranking of scholarship applications, through to the point of enrolment. The jobholder will also engage in project work seeking to improve student and applicant experience, and work closely with the HDR Experience Coordinator to achieve these aims.  

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • provide HDR-specific enquiry and admissions administration services and support 
  • deliver daily administration activities and services ensuring that high quality and efficient administrative support is provided in a pro-active manner to staff, prospective and current students, clients, and visitors
  • coordinate the filing, e-filing, and records management of all relevant HDR candidates’ documents as required and in line with University Policy
  • update databases, extract and issue regular reports following established procedures
  • undertake ad-hoc projects and other activities.

  • applied knowledge of university policies and procedures and administrative processes within a tertiary environment
  • well-developed negotiation, conflict resolution, relationship building and influencing skills
  • excellent time and workload management skills with demonstrated ability to prioritise effectively, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines and achieve required outcomes
  • working knowledge of software programs such as Sydney Student (especially Client), Records Management, RECS and Content Management Systems (especially Canvas)
  • highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders including internal and external stakeholders.

Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. For a continuing position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident. Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
