  • Opportunity for an experienced and self-directed Fire Technician to manage and maintain site wide Fire Systems and assets 

  • Level 7, full-time on an ongoing basis 

  • Base salary range: $95,737 – $106,223 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation

About the team 

Campus Management is responsible for planning, designing, developing, and managing the University’s campus and property portfolio to support teaching, research, and campus life. Campus Management delivers a range of university-wide services including strategic planning, property management, facilities operations, major projects and developments, sustainability, landscape, security, and transport. 

About the opportunity 

As the appointee you will, under broad direction, take a key role in the delivery of a safe, high-quality, customer focused Fire service. This will include both planned and reactive maintenance, installation project works, high level supervision of outsourced Fire service providers and ensuring all regulatory Fire detection and suppression compliance is achieved. 

You will be a member of the maintenance department and have great communication skills and the ability to provide advice, and support to all stakeholders and others across the university regarding UWA wet and dry fire infrastructure and significant legislative, regulatory, and statutory obligations for the university. 

To be considered for this opportunity, you will demonstrate: 


  • Open Cabling license with demonstrated competency  

  • 5 years subsequent experience in maintenance/ installation of fire detection and alarm systems, with the ability to take a lead role in problem solving, applying proven technical knowledge. 

  • Demonstrated experience in programming and fault finding on Ampac and Notifier FIPs. 


  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current technical/trade regulations 

  • Demonstrated supervisory experience with the ability to supervise outsourced contractors and their works.  

  • Highly-developed organisational skills including the ability to plan own work schedule, set priorities and meet strict deadlines with the ability to research and propose new innovative methodologies to site maiteneance requirements
