Exciting New Opportunity in Animal Behaviour

The School of Animal & Veterinary Sciences is offering an exciting new full time Academic position in Animal Behaviour to expand research opportunities and support the new BSc(Animal Behaviour) program. The School has a world leading multi-disciplinary team that will provide opportunities for collaborative research both locally and internationally. The teaching program has an innovative structure, bridging comparative psychology and ethology and work-based placements for students. This opportunity will take you to the next level of your academic career to advance your research and teaching profile.

The successful applicant will be expected to have demonstrated abilities to attract research and develop a high quality research program in the future. You will need to be an enthusiastic, innovative and team-orientated person with a passion for delivering the highest standards of research and teaching. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and are motivated to play an important role in the development of the new BSc(Animal Behaviour) program.

To be successful you will need:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in Animal Behaviour or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in animal behaviour from either an ethology or comparative psychology framework, and a demonstrated ability in designing and delivering high quality undergraduate teaching.
  • A track record of productive research and ability to develop high quality research in animal behaviour in the future, and the ability to work collaboratively with researchers from different disciplinary backgrounds in the development of funding applications and implementation of research projects in addition to evidence of a publication record relevant to experience.
  • Good written and oral communication skills and strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of teaching and research teams

The School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences provides world-class, outcome-based education and training of animal and veterinary scientists in a research environment. Based at the Roseworthy Campus, 50km north of the Adelaide CBD and minutes from Gawler, the school is situated on a 1600 ha property that includes a working farm, fully serviced Veterinary Health Centre teaching clinics, and a range of general purpose and specialist teaching and research facilities.The School offers four academic programs: Animal Science, Animal Behaviour, Veterinary Bioscience and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).
