Lecturer in Chinese Studies is a balanced academic position, with demonstrated ability to teach Chinese language at tertiary level including Chinese background speakers, and having NAATI qualifications or equivalent ability to teach Chinese to English and/or English to Chinese translation and/or interpreting at all levels
The successful candidate has to demonstrate evidence of a research track record in high-quality publication outlets, relative to opportunity, and of a future research strategy.
The School of Social Sciences comprises five Departments: Anthropology and Development Studies; Asian Studies; Geography, Environment and Population; Politics and International Relations; and Sociology, Criminology and Gender Studies. Combining a vibrant and innovative teaching environment with a strong research culture, the School offers an intellectually stimulating environment in which to work.
To be successful you will need:
- A PhD in any field of Chinese Studies.
- Native or near-native competence in both English and Chinese.
- Demonstrated ability to teach Chinese language at tertiary level including Chinese background speakers.
- NAATI qualifications or equivalent ability to teach Chinese to English and/or English to Chinese translation and/or interpreting at all levels.
- Evidence of research track record in high-quality publication outlets, relative to opportunity, and of a future research strategy.
