About Finance and Procurement Services 

Finance and Procurement Services assist the University to achieve its goals by providing quality leadership, information, and financial services. The Finance and Procurement Services team develops and maintains financial policies and procedures and internal control to facilitate the conduct of university business and help ensure compliance with taxation and other financial legislative requirements. 


About the Role 

We have an exciting opportunity within our Finance and Procurement team as the Financial Analyst. As the successful incumbent, you will occupy a pivotal role in the organisation as you will be responsible for assisting the College of Science and Engineering’s delivery of quality financial services to their Researchers; with a specific focus on Australian Research Council (ARC) grant finance administration and acquittals. You will also provide high-quality assistance as directed, particularly in relation to budgeting, projections of research awards and ensuring salaries and other expenditures are reflected on the specific accounts established to manage awards.
 

Some of the key responsibilities of the position are:

  • Providing high quality financial analysis and advice and support all aspects of financial management.

  • Monitoring financial results in comparison with research awards / contracts and University coinvestments associated with research awards.

  • Acquitting financial results to external funding bodies within agreed time frames

  • Liaising and communicating clearly with researchers, internal key stakeholders and in some instances the external funding bodies to inform them in advance of any changes.

  • Ensuring all relevant Flinders systems are up to date and records are complete to assist ensure quality financial reports and dashboards are available to management and researcher.

  • Supporting the day-to-day operations of the College of Science and Engineering Finance team.

About You 

As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with a wider range of clients and stakeholders across the Organisation and external to the organisation, have ability to be collegial and work in a cooperative team environment, and be able to show high-level analytical and problem-solving skills. You can prioritise efficiently and can problem-solve effectively in a multi-tasking environment.

Some of the key position capabilities of the role include:

  • Tertiary qualification in accounting or related area or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education and/or training.

  • Demonstrated understanding of finance systems and budget forecasting in large organisations.

  • Demonstrated ability to produce accurate management reports.

  • Experience in the development of financial and funding models.
