Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Financial Accountant to join Finance Business Solutions, Chancellery Division.

Within the Chancellery, Finance Business Solutions (FBS) is responsible for a range of business functions to facilitate the ongoing financial and planning viability of the university in realising QUT’s strategic aims and objectives, whilst maintaining a customer centric approach when engaging with the university community, industry and government. The Financial Accountant provides support in the preparation and certification of financial reporting and associated funding acquittals.

What you need to succeed

  • Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to the completion of a bachelor qualification and holds either a CPA or CA qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation and processing of financial information including reconciliations and project financial reports.
  • Proven ability to understand and apply recognised accounting principles and standards.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to liaise and provide suitable advice to all levels of staff within the University.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and plan, organise and prioritise workloads in order to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills in financial administration matters including the ability to interpret and apply the University's financial policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated experience in using both a large financial accounting system (such as  Oracle) and a small financial accounting system (such as  MYOB) and computer applications such as Excel, Word, and Access at an intermediate level.
