Finance and Procurement Services
Under routine to general direction, the Finance Services Officer will provide administrative and financial support for the University's Colleges and Portfolios. They will be processing financial transactions, liaising with stakeholders, answering queries, providing reporting services and any other associate duties in relation to the Finance Services Officer functions.

Key Position Responsibilities

The Finance Services Officer will be accountable for:

  • Liaising with stakeholders and customers in relation to matters arising from invoice and general queries promptly and professionally and escalating any unknown issues appropriately.

  • Assisting with invoice and payment analysis, ensuring legitimacy of Tax invoice’s, Student Payments and Employee Reimbursements.

  • Coding invoices in the P2P (Purchase to Pay) system, Basware, ensuring there are appropriate funds available for expenses.

  • Raising and receipting Purchase Orders and processing journals as required.  Providing support for the management and reconciliation of purchasing card transactions as required.

  • Ensuring appropriate approvals and supporting information is obtained for all transactions.

  • Providing routine advice and customer service to internal and external stakeholders and customers.

  • Proactively and positively participating in all team meetings.

  • Assisting in the continuous improvement of Finance Service Officer processes.

  • Delivering tasks in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Maintaining files and documentation thoroughly and accurately in accordance with Records Management requirements.

  • Ensuring adherence to Flinders University’s Policies and Procedures.

  • Familiarity of Flinders University’s Financial Expense Delegations and Contractual Delegations.

  • Any other responsibilities deemed in line with the level of the role as assigned by the Supervisor and/or the University.

Key Position Capabilities

•    Completion of relevant qualification or, an equivalent combination of relevant experience and / or education/training.
•    Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
•    Experience in finance functions in a medium to large organisation.
•    Knowledge of electronic paperless invoice processing.
•    General knowledge of GST.
•    Proven ability to process high volume transactions accurately and efficiently.
•    Demonstrated ability to problem-solve.
•    Well-developed keyboard skills.
•    Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
•    Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Teams.
•    Proven knowledge and experience with computerised Finance Systems (Technology One and Basware desirable).
