About the position

The Facilities Systems Senior Coordinator is responsible for coordinating:

  • Facilities Systems operated within I&O and ensuring the functionality of spatial and facilities systems is maximised.
  • Facilities Systems data including spatial data quality controls and making sure the system/data integrity within I&O and other Corporate Systems is adequately maintained.
  • Enhancements and development of reporting solutions for I&O.

The role works alongside specialist professional colleagues (from a diverse range of disciplines), contributing to the delivery of an integrated and evolving range of support services provided by I&O.

The position sits within the Master Planning, Sustainability & Systems department. The position is responsible for coordinating facilities systems, reporting and spatial data across all University locations. The Facilities Systems Senior Coordinator reports to the Manager Facilities Systems and works with other staff within the I&O Division, including the Facilities, Assets and Services and Project Design & Delivery departments.

This position which has University wide responsibilities, is based at the Melbourne Campus (Bundoora). The Infrastructure and Operations Division operates in a manner that supports the La Trobe values and achievement of identified business objectives. In providing tailored and quality services, all teams within the Infrastructure and Operations Division are expected to work collaboratively and provide cross functional team support at all times.

There is an expectation of responding to out-of-hours phone calls and out-of-hours site attendance for system maintenance and upgrades, as needed.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have;

  • Completion of a degree qualification in Information Technology, with at least 3 years subsequent relevant experience in the area of management of Facilities Systems.
  • Experience in designing, developing and constructing system documentation and data process management and documentation preferably in a university environment.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet competing deadlines.
  • Demonstrated use of problem solving abilities including working with complex data from a diverse range of sources, for deriving meaningful insights to enable better decision making.
  • Experience conducting data management tasks including quality assurance activities, data checking and cleaning of datasets, data manipulation and extraction, analysis and presentation of quantitative data.
  • Demonstrated experience developing reports and conducting surveys.
  • Experience working with internal IT departments, external software vendors & consultants.
  • Experience with Facilities Systems and Asset Management Systems such as Archibus, Contractor Management Systems, Access Control Systems, Digital Radio Systems and Video Monitoring Systems including system integrations.
  • SQL and advanced programming skills and knowledge.
  • A passion for the technical aspects of IT with a mindset to improve system output and innovation.
