The Position

As an Academic Educator you will make a significant contribution to the preparation of postgraduate health services management students for practice by being actively involved in the delivery of innovative curricula and facilitation of student engagement.

The Department of Public Health is seeking suitably qualified Casual Academic Educators in the following areas:

  • Health Care Quality
  • Management and Leadership in Health
  • Strategy and Operation Management
  • Project Management in Health
  • Health Economics and Finance

Duties

The Casual Academic Educator will:

  • Conduct teaching in the classroom setting (on-campus and / or online) providing a high-quality learning experience that engages students through the conduct of lectures, tutorials, practical classes, demonstrations, workshops, student field excursions, clinical sessions and/or other sessions in online, blended, or face-to-face modes.
  • Marking and assessment of students work and provide marks/grades in a timely manner to the Subject Coordinator.
  • Consultation with students.
  • Attending to the administrative functions relevant to the role.
  • Undertaking other duties commensurate with the classification and scope of duties of the position as required by the Subject Coordinator, Course Coordinator, Department Teaching and Learning Coordinator, Associate Dean Teaching and Learning, or Head of Department.

Casual Academic Educators may be required to teach at the City Campus (Collins Street), Melbourne (Bundoora), or online.

Skills/Experience 

  • To teach at an undergraduate level an Honours degree, Graduate Diploma or higher in a relevant discipline is ordinarily required.
  • To teach at postgraduate level a doctorate degree in a relevant discipline is normally required, however significant industry sector experience may be considered.

Benefits

  • Rate of Pay: Academic Casual rates as defined in the La Trobe University Enterprise Agreement 2023 (EA) (dependent upon individual teaching responsibilities, i.e. lectures, tutorials, marking, meetings, etc) 
  • Hours: Casual (hours are dependent upon individual teaching activities available and assigned)
