The Opportunity

The Education Technology Specialist is a critical position in the School supporting a culture of continuous improvement in education. This Education Technology Specialist will work within a broader team of educational designers, learning designers and academics to provide educational innovation, support and advice to academic and professional staff across the School.

The primary responsibility of this role is to support innovation in education within the School Education Portfolio. Within the first year, this position will play a crucial role in supporting learner focused integration of educational technology for fully online courses within the School.

Selection Criteria

We are looking for applicants who have:

  • A relevant degree with significant experience and expertise in educational or instructional design and educational technologies or teaching, or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience
  • Extensive experience in designing and delivering learning using educational technologies, development of online/e-learning activities, and eAssessment
  • Educational design experience including curriculum design, constructive alignment of learning outcomes and assessment, development of effective assessment approaches for learning and demonstration, and approaches to active learning in online and contemporary learning spaces
  • Strong familiarity with the technical and pedagogical aspects of established and developing educational platforms and technology including Moodle or other learning management systems
  • Experience in analysing and optimising workflows for repetitive tasks, including the use of online forms and automation tools such as Google Apps Script (or similar)
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify potential issues, diagnose and investigate problems and make considered recommendations for solutions
  • Experience in designing and delivering effective and engaging training for staff on innovative teaching approaches and technologies through online and in-person one-on-one consultation and in group workshop settings
  • Qualifications and/or experience in Psychology or other STEM practice or teaching, with the ability to translate technical information for a broad range of audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member of a team as well as the ability to exercise high levels of independence, judgment and initiative
