College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences
At the College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences we inspire ground-breaking ways of viewing the world. Encompassing teaching and research activities in history and archaeology, social sciences, language, literature and culture, and the creative arts, the College aim to bring together high profile interdisciplinary and disciplinary projects dedicated to major cultural, environmental, geographical, historical, and social challenges of our time.
About the Role
As the Executive Officer, you will provide high-level advice, analysis and support to the College leadership team and lead the operations team in delivering key events, projects, and initiatives in support of the College strategic plan.
You will act as an important interface between the College leadership and the broader University and external community, engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders. You will provide high-level coordination and support of priority projects and initiatives of the College.
Working directly with the Vice-President and Executive Dean, and in collaboration with the College/Portfolio leadership team, you will also be accountable for:
- coaching and mentoring employees and managing performance to deliver high quality services.
- undertaking research and analysis across a broad range of issues and provide critical comment and briefings to Senior Management on strategic, operational, and sector-wide issues relevant to their area.
- drafting correspondence, reports, presentations, and submissions on behalf of Senior Management.
About You
You will be diligent, effective, and demonstrate commitment to providing high quality outcomes. You will have high-level communication and interpersonal skills and bring a collegial and collaborative work ethic to and contribute to the strategic agenda of the College. You will be a proactive problem solver with the ability to work under general supervision, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
You will be used to using your initiative, be forward thinking and be able to work in an autonomous fashion.
To be successful in this role you will also demonstrate:
- A relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training.
- Experience in, and detailed knowledge of relevant frameworks and practices related to, researching, preparing, analysing, developing, and implementing strategies, policies, and procedures relevant to higher education.
- Experience in leading and motivating a team of service-oriented professionals to deliver high quality services.
- Ability to collate and distil information from a wide range of sources and assist with or prepare and compile briefing papers, proposals, presentations, and background documents.
