  • Exciting opportunity to provide high level strategic and operational support to the Vice Principal (External Relations)
  • Base Salary $138,799 + 17% superannuation 

About the opportunity

The Executive Officer will provide high level strategic and operational support to the Vice Principal (External Relations), ensuring efficient and effective implementation of key initiatives and strategic projects across the portfolio. The Executive Officer will use their research and writing skills plus extensive project management expertise to support the Vice Principal (External Relations) on various strategic projects.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • build and maintain constructive relationships with senior stakeholders, ensuring a high level of professionalism
  • manage and deliver on ad hoc projects as required
  • engage in critical analysis of proposals, reports, and in examining the more complex, non-routine cases on which decisions are required
  • collaborate with professional staff across the business to source and compile information needed for reporting and compliance purposes
  • build rapport and business relationships with all areas of the portfolio to keep currency with critical issues, relevant information, and key contacts for students, staff, and visitors
  • prepare and present discussion papers on a broad range of issues for External Relations Leadership review, inclusive of appropriate and relevant analysis, business strategy and final recommendations.

About you

  • relevant tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in Arts, Communications, Business, or related fields, with substantial experience within a relevant area
  • previous experience in the higher education/tertiary sector or at a complex, multi-faceted organisation
  • strong written and verbal communication skills, proficient in the preparation of reports, papers and policy to a high standard and strong Microsoft Office suite skills
  • excellent negotiation, conflict resolution, relationship building and influencing skills together with high level of tact, diplomacy and discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • demonstrated experience at a senior level in the preparation and provision of responsive, clear, and concise specialist advice, recommendations, and solutions both verbally and in writing, through effective research, negotiation, and consultation with key stakeholders.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
